About the studio

We got tired of
choosing sides.

The Dev Studio started as a disagreement between a designer and an engineer about whose job mattered more. Neither of us won. That's the whole point.

Philosophy

Balance isn't
a compromise.

Every studio we'd worked at before this one had a hierarchy, even if nobody said it out loud. Either design got the final word and engineering scrambled to make it real, or engineering set the constraints and design colored inside the lines.

Both paths produce the same result: a launch that's good at one thing and mediocre at the other. A homepage that wins awards and loses visitors. A dashboard that never crashes and never gets used.

So we built the studio around a rule instead of a hierarchy: design and development get equal weight, equal time, and equal say — on every single project, no exceptions. When the two sides disagree, that's not a problem to route around. That's the process working.

The name comes from that split. The Dev Studio — half of the word is right there in the name, because we never wanted anyone to forget the other half exists.
